It is my pleasure to recommend Tanya Anticevic as a Teaching Artist. She has been part of the
West Hampton Beach Performing Arts Center adjunct faculty since February of 2009, teaching children
ages 5 – 16 in six week-long Musical Theater Camps. Her specialty is Theater Games and Improvisation,
drawing heavily from the classic work of Viola Spolin. Tanya is wonderful with children, encouraging and
kind. Her classroom activities are always engaging and she is always prepared with a multitude of
various games that encourage imagination and improvisation in a nurturing and safe environment. She
demonstrates great flexibility in the classroom; she has strong instincts for when to change directions and
introduce something new. I particularly enjoyed watching her “cool down” methods; she likes to end each
class with an “imaginary journey,” which introduces children to yoga, relaxation, and breathing while
putting a nice cap on the session. I know that Tanya will be teaching third graders in her proposed
residency; she works particularly well with this age group, and I recommend her strongly. If you have any
additional questions concerning Tanya as a Teaching Artist, do not hesitate to get in touch with me.
